3.2. Cambios de unidades sencillos: Longitud, masa, tiempo, superficie y volumen/capacidad

Para pasar de una unidad a otra dentro de la misma magnitud, podemos imaginar las unidades colocadas en los peldaños de una escalera ordenada de mayor a menor.
🧗♂️ Regla de oro de la escalera:
Si BAJAS peldaños $\rightarrow$ MULTIPLICAS ($\cdot$) (el número se hace más grande).
Si SUBES peldaños $\rightarrow$ DIVIDES ($:$) (el número se hace más pequeño).
¿Cuánto vale cada escalón en cada magnitud?

1. Para ir de $\text{m}^2$ a $\text{cm}^2$ tenemos que BAJAR 2 escalones.
2. Como es superficie, cada escalón vale $100$. Bajamos $2$ escalones $\rightarrow$ Multiplicamos por $100 \cdot 100 = 10\,000$.
$$\text{Resultado: } 4,5 \cdot 10\,000 = \mathbf{45\,000\text{ cm}^2}$$
🌉 El puente entre la escalera de Volumen y Capacidad
A veces necesitamos cambiar de una escalera a otra (por ejemplo, saber cuántos litros de agua caben en una caja de $1\text{ m}^3$). Para saltar de una escalera a la otra existe un puente mágico:
(Otras conexiones del puente: $1\text{ m}^3 = 1000\text{ L}$ | $1\text{ cm}^3 = 1\text{ mL}$)
Estrategia para cruzar el puente: Mueve tu dato por la escalera de volumen hasta llegar a $\text{dm}^3$, cruza el puente a $\text{L}$ (¡mismo número!), y luego sube o baja por la escalera de capacidad si te piden otra unidad.
⏱️ La escalera del tiempo (Sistema Sexagesimal)
El tiempo no va de 10 en 10, sino de 60 en 60 entre horas, minutos y segundos:
- Bajamos de Horas ($\text{h}$) a Minutos ($\text{min}$): Multiplicamos por $60$ ($\cdot 60$).
- Bajamos de Minutos ($\text{min}$) a Segundos ($\text{s}$): Multiplicamos por $60$ ($\cdot 60$).
- Salto directo de Horas ($\text{h}$) a Segundos ($\text{s}$): Multiplicamos por $3600$ ($\cdot 3600$).
- Para subir (de $\text{s}$ a $\text{min}$ o a $\text{h}$): Dividimos ($: 60$ o $: 3600$).
Caso 1: Subir en la escalera de Masa ($\text{mg} \rightarrow \text{g}$)
Convertir $3500\text{ mg}$ a gramos ($\text{g}$):
• De $\text{mg}$ a $\text{g}$ hay que SUBIR 3 escalones ($\text{mg} \rightarrow \text{cg} \rightarrow \text{dg} \rightarrow \text{g}$).
• Como cada escalón de masa vale $10$, dividimos entre $1000$ ($10 \cdot 10 \cdot 10$).
$$\text{Resultado: } 3500 : 1000 = \mathbf{3,5\text{ g}}$$Caso 2: Usar el puente ($\text{m}^3 \rightarrow \text{L}$)
¿Cuántos litros de agua caben en un depósito de $2,5\text{ m}^3$?
1. En la escalera de volumen: Bajamos 1 escalón de $\text{m}^3$ a $\text{dm}^3$ ($\cdot 1000$).
$$2,5 \cdot 1000 = 2500\text{ dm}^3$$
2. Cruzamos el puente: Como $1\text{ dm}^3 = 1\text{ L}$, los $2500\text{ dm}^3$ equivalen a $2500\text{ L}$.
Caso 3: Tiempo sexagesimal ($\text{horas} \rightarrow \text{segundos}$)
Convertir $2,5\text{ horas}$ a segundos ($\text{s}$):
• Bajamos directamente de horas a segundos multiplicando por $3600$.

- c) $1250\text{ m}$ a kilómetros ($\text{km}$).

Cruzando el puente de la piscina: Una piscina infantil tiene un volumen interno de $4,8\text{ m}^3$.
- a) ¿Cuántos decímetros cúbicos ($\text{dm}^3$) tiene la piscina?
- b) Utiliza el puente ($1\text{ dm}^3 = 1\text{ L}$) para averiguar cuántos litros ($\text{L}$) se necesitan para llenarla.
- Cálculo de tiempo en el laboratorio: Un experimento ha durado exactamente $1\text{ hora}$, $15\text{ minutos}$ y $30\text{ segundos}$. Expresa la duración total del experimento exclusivamente en segundos ($\text{s}$).

- b) Como $1\text{ dm}^3 = 1\text{ L}$, en la piscina caben exactamente $4800\text{ L}$.

- $1\text{ h} = 1 \cdot 3600 = 3600\text{ s}$
- $15\text{ min} = 15 \cdot 60 = 900\text{ s}$
- $30\text{ s} = 30\text{ s}$
